From the Principal

From the moment I stepped foot in this community in 2013, I knew it was home. I am thrilled to be a part of this exceptional, diverse community. At Holy Family, we believe in creating open-minded, global citizens who are not only prepared for a changing society, but who also strive to act as Disciples of Christ.

Growing up in a bilingual community myself, I can attest to the benefits of bilingual education. Research has pointed out that students learning in a bilingual environment become more sophisticated thinkers, have increased listening skills and memory, and show a greater understanding of their first language. Studies consistently have shown that participation in a dual-language program benefits students academically, cognitively, socially, and personally. At Holy Family we strive not only for bilingual, but bi-literate students. We have self-contained, dual-language classes, with the goal of achieving academic mastery of challenging concepts in all academic focus areas. As the only bilingual Catholic school in the Seattle area, Holy Family offers the advantage of learning two languages while promoting strong, Catholic values.

I have spent all but one year of my academic life in Catholic Schools and can surely say that this school does an incredible job of motivating students to treat all respect, especially and extend service to the less fortunate. Each month, students are awarded the virtue of the month, encouraging all students to act with empathy, self-discipline, perseverance and cooperation, to name a few. Being a small school, younger students look up to older students while older students learn care and compassion for the younger ones. Holy Family truly is a family. The school is a safe, welcoming environment where all students are inspired to achieve.

Academically, Holy Family offers small class sizes, around 15 students per class, and dedicated, compassionate teachers who strive to ensure that each of our students succeeds. Most of our experienced teaching staff is bilingual and work to differentiate instruction, tailoring lessons to meet the needs of each student as an individual. Teachers exemplify best practices and project based learning to effectively prepare students for high school.

Our Early Learning program, for preschool (3-4 years) and pre-kindergarten (4-6 years), is one of the finest in the area. We focus on early literacy and exploratory play while offering additional content such as Spanish, art, music, and physical education. We believe in introducing our youngest members of the school to Jesus Christ and students experience a religion curriculum as well as Mass where they sit among the school community.

While we are a Catholic School, we welcome all families of any background. Come see for yourself! Call our main office at 206-767-6640 to schedule an appointment. I am happy to personally show you our wonderful community.
